All fonts have to be converted to outlines / curves / shapes or font file supplied with artwork on floppy disc, CD, DVD or email, otherwise fonts must be included with the artwork. The maximum size file that can be sent by email is 5 megabytes. See "Contact Us" for where to send artwork either by e-mail or normal post.
WordPerfect up to Wordperfect 9, Word up to Word 2007, Powerpoint up to Powerpoint 2007, Publisher up to Publisher 2007 and Excel up to Excel 2007. These may not scale correctly, so if you produce your artwork as text, please also include ALL fonts used on your floppy disk or e-mail attachment. We also need a diagram showing your overall dimensions and line spacing requirements.
Copies of drawings or photos, overall dimensions of the finished transfer must be supplied. Note that the clearer the drawing or photo you provide, the better the result. Specifically we need to know the Font Type (if known), Colour - either sample provided or exact colour description by CMYK or Pantone code, Height and Width of items, and Quantity Required.
Please specify if you would like us to choose standard fonts that closely approximate ones in the photo or drawing. This will usually be a much cheaper option than creating specific artwork for your transfer.
The actual print area for decals is less than the full A4 size. They cannot be printed right to the top, bottom or side of the page. You should allow for a top margin of 13.5mm (0.53"), a bottom margin, for a full A4 sheet only, of 16.0mm (0.63") and 5.5mm (0.22") at each side. We can however print right to the bottom of the 1/2 A4 sheet. For example, the actual printing area for a full A4 sheet is 200mm (7.9") wide and 270mm (10.6") long.
All images are to be saved with at least 300 DPI (Dots Per Inch) resolution.
Files must be able to be opened on a Windows based PC. If you are using a MAC they must be able to be opened on a PC and import correctly - it would be best to make sure this is the case before sending them to us. Native MAC CD-ROMs or floppy discs in a MAC file format structure cannot be used.
We use CorelDraw X3, which will import a broad range of file types. If you do not have suitable drawing software our recommendation is to purchase a version of CorelDraw (any version from 9 onwards will do) if your sole goal is to draw your own transfers/decals. Earlier versions of CorelDraw can usually be obtained very cheaply from computer swap meets.
The following file types are acceptable:
You can e-mail files to us (up to 5MB) or supply them on CD or DVD. We will accept floppy discs but be aware that they are not very reliable.
Please ensure that your photos, photocopies or hard-copy drawings:
If some of these conditions cannot be met send us the artwork and we will assess what extra information is required (eg: actual prototype measurements such as window sizes, any ambiguities, etc).
Many of our customers provide us with artwork for the production of commercial products and are rightly concerned that Brunel Models might make other use of these drawings, pass them onto another party, or confide information about them to a third-party.
You have our word that we will not use, pass onto a third-party, or misuse your plans; they are your property, and we treat them with strict confidentiality.
