If you pick a typeface that is very close to the original lettering, you can use the options Text, Format text, Space, Character to change the spacing between characters (Version 7) or Text, Format text, Paragraph, Spacing, Character (Version 11). You can use a combination of two or more typefaces. Remember to include a copy of each true type font you are using with your order.
If you scan in an image and draw over the original lettering, in other words make shapes, they have to look good at the size they appear on the transfer - they don’t have to be beautiful at 1000 times magnification!
If your transfer consists of two colours or more, you should use the Object Manager (formerly called Layer Manager) to put each colour on a different layer.
If your original lettering includes shadows, most of the time the shadow will match the original if you copy the original lettering and offset this to the right and below the original and place them behind the original (right mouse button on object and select "order"). Using the trim tool, click on the original lettering and cut the shadow. If you group the original lettering and the shadow (i.e. you have two groups), you can cut all the letters at once. It is now simply a matter of using the node tool to angle the corners.
