All the sleepers and timbering are designed for 4mm/ft scale but may very well be suitable for 3.5mm/ft as well (eg: 9ft sleepers at 4mm/ft are scale 10' 3" at 3.5mm/ft). They can also be very easily trimmed to a shorter length.
Nine foot (9') sleepers were used in the pre-grouping period. After the First World War, sleeper length was reduced to 8 ft 6 ins, although much existing track would have lasted for some years with 9 ft sleepers.
Thin sleepers and timbering will match flexitrack, and the ply sleepering supplied by the EM and Scalefour societies.
Thick sleepers and timbering equate to a scale 5" depth. If you are not planning to use flexitrack, we recommend thick sleepers over thin because of the appearance and strength.
"DOW-MAC" sleepers combined with GW 2 bolt chairs produce the bullhead rail and concrete sleeper combination introduced in the mid 1940s.
The track bases are those used with flexitrack.
